چکیده
The dry rot fungus Serpula lacrymans is the most destructive fungal agent of wood building materials in Europe, Russia, North America, and Japan. identification this wood-deteriorating discrimination different isolates very important for control buildings general preservation cultural heritage particular. objective study was to develop a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) method coupled with partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) sample preparation S. lacrymans. Five distinct strains were analysed compared two unrelated species. Different methods mycelial growth, preparation, FTIR spectral data normalisation compared. harvested mycelium grown on surface polyether sulfone microfiltration membrane deposited malt extract agar medium, followed by vector normalization PLS-DA statistical analysis, resulted 100% correct attribution at phylum, species, strain level, regardless type standardization used. This confirms applicability spectroscopy belonging

Identification and characterization of pigmented photoreceptor-producing microorganisms using FTIR spectroscopy
The identification, differentiation and classification of microorganisms have been subjects of research for many years. Recently, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy techniques have gained attention in the characterization and classification of microorganisms based on biochemical profiles and cell structure characteristics. In the present study, the characterization and differentiati...
متن کاملTolerance of Serpula lacrymans to copper-based wood preservatives
Serpula lacrymans, the dry rot fungus, is considered the most economically important wood decay fungus in certain temperate regions of the world, namely northern Europe, Japan, and Australia. Previously, copper-based wood preservatives were commonly used for pressure treatment of wood for building construction, but some decay fungi are known to be copper tolerant. In this study, soil-block test...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization of Sexual Diversity in a Population of Serpula lacrymans, a Tetrapolar Basidiomycete
Different mating systems have evolved in the fungal kingdom, including a tetrapolar multiallelic mating system in many basidiomycetes. In tetrapolar species, the presence of different alleles at two mating loci (MAT A and MAT B) is necessary for mating to occur. The tetrapolar fungus Serpula lacrymans causes wood-decay in buildings in temperate regions worldwide and is present in Europe with a ...

متن کاملAsian origin and rapid global spread of the destructive dry rot fungus Serpula lacrymans.
The dry rot fungus Serpula lacrymans (Basidiomycota) is the most damaging destroyer of wood construction materials in temperate regions. While being a widespread aggressive indoor biodeterioration agent, it is only found in a few natural environments. The geographical source of spread and colonization by this fungus in human environments is thus somewhat of an enigma. Employing genetic markers ...
